Described by Christina Jennings as a flutist with a "light and beautiful sound, and a dedication to musical expression above all else",  Laura Hairgrove Randall is a classically trained flutist and arts entrepreneur based in the Boston/Providence metro area.  Mrs. Randall is the founder and Executive Director of the Halo Ensemble, an innovative young international artists' collaborative, emphasizing the culture shaping potential and community building aspects of music making.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Mrs. Randall’s musical studies began at the age of three and her flute studies at the age of nine.  A first prize winner in both the Clear Lake Symphony and Virtuosi of Houston concerto competitions, Laura made her concerto debut at the age of seventeen performing C.P.E. Bach’s Concerto in D Minor.  Mrs. Randall is currently a graduate Performance Diploma student at Boston University, studied flute performance at the Peabody Institute, earned a Bachelor of Arts in music from Cornell University and a Master of Music in flute performance at the Longy School of Music.   Mrs. Randall's teachers include Linda Toote, Robert Willoughby, Vanessa Breault Mulvey, Elizabeth Rowe, Rebecca Gilbert,  Sydney Carlson, and Christina Jennings.  A committed chamber musician, Mrs. Randall has coached with pianist Seth Knopp of the Peabody Trio, cellist Mihaly Virizlay and clarinetist Edward Palanker of the Baltimore Symphony Orchesra, and cellist Min Cao of the Shanghai Conservatory.

An enthusiastic promoter of new music, Mrs. Randall has been engaged to premiere several new works, including Damon Ferrante’s Super Double Lite in Manhattan, NY at Symphony Space Concert Hall and Greg Pascuzzi’s Mourning into Dancing at the Crescendo Summer Institute of the Arts in Sárospatak, Hungary.  She currently performs with the Time's Arrow new music ensemble at Boston University and has performed with the Longitude Ensemble in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Peabody Camerata in Baltimore, Maryland.
